Your First VisitA first appointment will take approximately one hour.
Prior to any treatment we will take a full case history which will involve listening to you and asking questions to ensure that we understand your medical history and the problem(s) you are currently experiencing. All the information you provide will remain confidential. We may perform some neurological, orthopaedic and osteopathic tests and ask you to perform some simple movements as part of our assessment, and we may need to examine parts of your body whilst lying on a couch. You may also be asked to remove some clothing as part of the examination process. If you would like to have a companion with you we are more than happy for you to bring one along. Once we have made our diagnosis we will discuss our findings with you and explain the benefits and any risks of the treatment we are recommending. If you are happy to proceed with treatment you will be asked to sign a Form of Consent. Treatment can in the majority of cases be performed on the first visit however there are some instances when more detailed medical information is required such as x-rays or MRI scans. Occasionally there are also instances where osteopathic care is deemed inappropriate and such patients would be referred to their GP. |
