How many sessions?

Once we have made our initial diagnosis on your first visit, we will discuss our findings with you and talk through a Treatment Plan.

How many sessions you will require before a noticeable improvement is felt can be difficult to predict accurately on the first visit as every individual will respond differently to treatment.  It can also be influenced by the patient’s own condition, age and fitness.

Some conditions can be very simple to resolve and may require only two or three sessions, but with other more complex, acute or chronic conditions the recovery process can take longer.  Once we have assessed how you have responded to your first treatment we will have a better idea on the likely number of sessions required.

In certain cases we may recommend exercises to help you between visits and offer advice on posture and lifestyle as these can also help with the healing process.

Types of care

At this practice our patients tend to fall into 3 categories:

    -    those who simply want to be free of pain in the shortest amount of time for the least
         amount of money

    -    those who want us to resolve the “underlying cause” of their problem, which might
involve more sessions but will reduce the chances of the problem recurring

    -    those who attend for Wellness Care where we are working with patients who,
having had their condition successfully treated, are highly motivated to maintain
their natural state of wellness and attend the practice periodically to receive the
overall benefits of osteopathic care, even when not symptomatic.

We respect everyone’s personal choice and are here to meet the needs of each individual patient.
