In doing so we would like to reassure patients that your health and safety is at the heart of everything we do and, in accordance with Regulatory Guidance on managing the risk of Covid-19, measures have been put in place to mitigate risk and ensure that you can safely benefit from our services. Some of the steps we have taken are as follows:
Undertaken a Risk Assessment of our working environment
- This document provides a written record of the measures we have taken that form new clinic policy for operating during Covid-19.
Introduced enhanced infection prevention and control measures
- For instance, heightened cleaning regimes, removal of all linens, wearing of PPE, social distancing screens, handwashing between each patient, practitioner works from 2 separate consulting rooms to allow thorough ventilation and sanitisation between each patient, contactless payment.
Changes to our working protocols
- For instance: distancing measures in communal areas, staggered appointment times, requesting that patients attend alone to minimise numbers in communal areas (unless accompanied by a chaperone).
Pre-Screening Calls for Appointments
- Due to the close patient contact required for osteopathic manual treatment we have introduced this service to determine patient risk and clinical reasoning for a face to face consultation.
- As part of this process we need to ensure that patients are (i) not symptomatic, (ii) have not recently tested positive for Covid19, (iii) and are not self isolating due to possible exposure to Covid 19.
- We also need to record any existing respiratory conditions i.e. hay fever, asthma.
Notwithstanding all the above mentioned measures we have undertaken, we cannot totally eliminate the risk of transmission and exposure, and we will require patients to provide consent to a face to face consultation.
We are continuing to provide a ‘remote’ telehealth service and, in certain circumstances this may be a more appropriate approach.
